OpenSea Reaches $10B Total Volume

  • OpenSea, the largest non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace in the crypto space, has now enabled more than $10 billion dollars in trading volume in the four years of its existence.

  • The marketplace sees many high end NFTs such as the Bored Ape Yacht Club and Cool Cats trade between users, where the price of some individual NFTs can reach millions of dollars per item.

  • As seen above, while the average price of NFTs sold on OpenSea is about $872.87, the trading volume far exceeds that of the competing marketplaces in terms of pure sales.

  • The second highest NFT platform in terms of volume is Axie Infinity, which has a volume of $3.04 billion and and an average price of $234.81 per item. This platform is is one of two marketplaces in the top 10 listings that have a higher amount of registered users than OpenSea, but still fail to overcome the sheer amount of transactional volume seen on the platform.
