Brave Browser and Solana Parnters Up
Privacy browser Brave has announced a partnership with Etherum competitor Solana, that will enable Solana’s wallet across all versions of their browser.
Brave made the announcement in a company blog post, outlining how the integration was due to SOL high network speeds and low costs, a point many developers make. Unlike Ethereum the cost of transactions on Solana are as low as 0.000005 SOL, or $0.001.
Brendan Eich CEO of Brave wrote in the post “With more and more users and creators requiring tools for fast and affordable access to the decentralized Web, this integration will seamlessly pave the way for the next billion crypto users to harness applications and tokens.”
Brave is a privacy-based browser in which users are rewarded for both using the app and interacting with ads, the users can then take the BAT (Brave’s native token) given to them, and exchange it for other cryptos.
The team-up could see even bigger benefits for Solana than the company saw these past weeks with Brave boasting 42 million monthly users. Once the integration is finalized in 2022, millions of Brave users will now be able to use Solana-based Dapps.
“Deep integration with browsers is key to helping dapps build the best web experiences. Brave’s announcement of Solana wallet support across all versions of their browsers is an important step to onboard the next billion users to Solana,” said Anatoly Yakovenko, CEO of Solana Labs, in a press release.
Brave is also the third most used browser, sitting right behind Google Chrome and Opera, it should be noted that Brave is built on the same codebase as Chrome.
Solana has already seen quite the boom this year, In January of this year the token was trading at less than $2, now if you could believe it, the price is currently $246.
BAT the native token of Brave has seen a significant price jump based on this announcement, already jumping 19% on the day, trading at $1.18. That number will only rise as more are exposed to the great browsing experience Brave provides.
