China Reconsiders Bitcoin Mining Ban

  • The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China is looking for input from the public regarding the ban of crypto mining in the country.

  • The nation’s macroeconomic planning agency released a statement today regarding their studies of the effects of the mining ban and public opinion. The agency requested feedback from “relevant units” as well as “people from all walks of life,” indicating that the Chinese government is interested in feedback not only from citizens exposed to crypto but also workers from unrelated fields.

  • Citizens interested in giving feedback can send emails, physical mail, and post comments on the NDRC website. The time period to comment will last for one month from October 21st to November 21st.

  • NDRC has also published an article stating that the U.S. has dethroned China as the largest sector for Bitcoin mining in the world. The U.S. accounts for over 30% of the global Bitcoin mining hash rate, with Kazakhstan and Russia following up in second and third place respectively.
