FCA Launches TikTok, YouTube Campaign Warning Young People About Crypto

The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has launched a nationwide campaign warning new and young investors about the risk of investing in Crypto. Tik Tok and Youtube will be the two platforms this program is focused on.

“We want to create confident consumers. This campaign is about empowering younger investors, not inhibiting them,” executive director of the FCA, Sarah Pritchard reportedly said.

“We don’t believe that the actions of many of these new investors reflect what they describe as their tolerance to risk,” Pritchard added.

As part of the FCA’s research for the program, they surveyed investors between the ages of 18 and 40, who have invested in high-risk assets. More than 75% said they had put money into these assets. With only 60% reporting they have had stable returns.

This isn’t the first time people within the UK have warned about Crypto, with the country banning ads for the coins in the subway back in the first half of 2021. While this can be seen as disappointing, at the end of the day it wasn’t a blanket ban or statement released by a high-ranking official that is now making ripples into Bitcoins price, as regularly happens here within the US. I’d actually enjoy a program such as this here, to me, it shows that the Nation is at least doing preliminary research and cares about its citizens’ investments risk.
