Aaron Rodgers, Latest Athlete to Take a Portion of Salary in Crypto

2020 NFL MVP & Green Bay Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers announced today that he will be the latest athlete to take a part of his salary in Bitcoin.

The deal is a partnership with Cashapp, which will in tandem launch a 1 million Bitcoin giveaway on Twitter and Instagram.

Rodgers took to Twitter, In what I can only assume was a Halloween costume, wearing a suit, with red slashes across his face sipping on whiskey, saying “I’m excited about the future of cryptocurrency, and am a big believer in Bitcoin. So much so that I’ve chosen to take a large portion of my salary in Bitcoin, thanks to the help of Cash App.”

Further elaborating on the partnership “Cryptocurrency is a new concept to many and can be intimidating to understand.” Getting coins he suggested helps people “get” it.

The campaign began yesterday and is scheduled to run till November 8th. To enter to win up to $100 in BTC (0.0016 Bitcoin) people must comment using the hashtag #PaidInBitcoin and their Cash App address.

Similar to a promotion the money transfer service ran last year with rapper Megan Thee Stallion, who was the face of another million-dollar BTC giveaway last December.

Fellow NFL quarterback, and future Hall of Famer Tom Brady, got into crypto just this past year becoming a spokesperson for the Maimi-based exchange FTX. Just last week the partnership benefited “The Goat” when in exchange for his 600th touchdown ball, which was hilariously given away to a fan from WR Mike Evan, he gave away a Bitcoin.

This move comes as crypto is beginning to seep into public consciousness, the hope is that Aaron can bring the masses to the evolving technology.
