Two leading mining firms sharing a small town in Texas

Bitcoin miners Bitdeer and Riot Blockchain are two of the largest mining companies

Bitdeer was established by Jihan Wu: co-founder of Bitmain and Matrixport. This is significant to note since Bitmain produces Antminers- one of the top Bitcoin ASIC miners. Bitdeer offers many mining related services such as cloud mining and hosting

Texas is a quickly growing hot spot for new and established crypto miners

Texas offers significantly lower power costs than most other states and has vast amounts of land. Texas also has a large number of crypto friendly politicians.

The two companies have operations based in Rockdale, Texas, a rural town of 5,600. They also happen to be less than a mile down the road from each other. Rockdale was previously home to the worlds largest aluminum plant which began to shut down operations in 2008. This means there was plenty of space and power ready to be repurposed.
