Third Largest Bitcoin Whale Now Worth $6B

  • Data from blockchain analytics platform BitInfoCharts indicates that a “whale” account has continued to accumulate more Bitcoin during the recent dips below $50,000.

  • A whale in the cryptocurrency space is an account that holds large amounts of crypto, usually referred to early adopters of Bitcoin who were able to amass large quantities of the asset when it was at much lower valuations.

  • The whale account added a purchase of 2,700 BTC during the dip, increasing their total holdings to 118,017 BTC. The account has used about $2.5B to purchase Bitcoin with an average cost of $21,160 per BTC.
