Will Wright is a legendary video game designer, famous for being the brain behind “Sim City” and “The Sims”, both developed by Maxis. These classics built upon and evolved mechanics, in ways that are still lauded at today, now Mr. Wright is once again trying to revolutionize the game industry, but this time its not through design, this time its NFT’s.

“Spore” is the last game Will released, while it didnt capture players like his early work, it continued his tradition of pushing the boundary of “what games can be”. With his latest game “Proxi” hell utilize NFT’S to continue his work with simulation games, “designed to take players on a journey of self-discovery aided and enhanced by true ownership of digital, in-game assets.”

Developed by Gallium Studios, “Proxi” is said to be developed for people to “gain more insights about their subconscious,”, by way of creating “memories” using in game items. Users will be able to interact with others, & even mint their memories as an NFT, for the purpose of sale. The studio is working in collaboration with “Forte” to integrate the blockchain technology, the company raised $185 million in funding back in May, “With Forte’s blockchain platform, we now have a secure way to integrate and reward the community’s contributions.” said Wright in the press release.

If you’ve been regularly reading my articles you’ll notice a pattern, I enjoy tech, specifically ones that have a goal to push the industry they are working within. And a lot of NFT projects have turned me off for the opposite reason, I know their is a lot of chatter around the implementation of NFTs into video games, but most to me will fail. With Will Wright being behind this new project, known for his creative new gameplay mechanics, it does allow me to have some hope. The game is set to launch this Fall on mobile devices, with starter packs priced at $50 being sold at the time of writing.
