Digital Markets Act
In an attempt to assist smaller companies compete with tech giants, The European Union (EU) passed legislation to enable significant fines on giant tech companies. Main players like Google, Meta, and Apple could face specific restrictions on certain products that are currently monopolizing the space.
Some specific issues brought up in the bill include:
Texting services like iMessage and WhatsApp will need to be compatible with other messaging apps and platforms
Restricting the ability to issue targeted ads on platforms such as Google and Meta (Facebook and other Meta products)

MiCA Bill
The EU’s Markets in Crypto Assets Bill(MiCA Bill) is moving forward without the provision limiting proof-of-work cryptocurrencies. In the recent weeks leading up to this next phase of the bill, the proof-of-work provision was among the most debated topics of the bill.
