Rumors Suggest: Coinbase is Launching Subscription Service
Coinbase the biggest crypto exchange in the US, the #1 app on the apple store last month, is in the testing phase of their new subscription service.
News leaked on Twitter earlier today, as Users accidentally received access to the beta version of the service late last night. The subscription is called Coinbase One. The apparent beta testers posted photos of the new program, that said it would give individuals zero trading fees and prioritized phone support for trades.
Coinbase later confirmed to Decrypt, that they were working on the program, but only a select few users would be chosen to test it out at first. No details were given on the price of the service.
"Coinbase has started testing a subscription product for our customers," a company spokesperson said in an email. "Customers in the test group will have the ability to buy, sell, and convert digital currencies on the Coinbase platform without a Coinbase fee for each trade (spread fees still apply). We're always looking to learn more about how we can best serve our customers in different ways."
The screenshots posted also showed options for improved account security "If any funds in your Coinbase account are stolen by someone you don't know due to an account takeover, you may be eligible for a reimbursement of up to $1 million in losses," read the screenshot.
Coinbase not only is the biggest crypto exchange in the US, but was the first exchange to be listed on the Nasdaq, back in April right before the infamous crash.
Many traders on Coinbase have called for this feature as other exchanges such as Gemini & Binance have utilized it for months. As well as citing some of Coinbase’s ridiculous fees, which can take up to half a percent of an order depending on its size.
