Dapper Labs announced it has formed an agreement with the NFL, to issue officially licensed digital collectables on the FLOW blockchain.

Dapper’s Caty Tedman told Decrypt about plans for the video-based NFT “moments.”

This partnership is the 4th sports venture the FLOW blockchain will host. The three others being NBA TopShot(WNBA included), the UFC and also a newly formed partnership with the Spansh LaLiga soccer league. The partnership with the soccer league netted Dapper a $250 million round of funding that places Dapper at an approximate $7.6 billion valuation.

Tedman insisted that the NFLs NFTs will be handled “very different way than we program Top Shot.”

However it has not always been smooth sailing for Dapper Labs, a class action lawsuit was filed against NBA Topshot stating they are securities in May. On May 12 Jeeun Friel, a Virginia resident who allegedly has been purchasing Moments since June 15, 2020 is demanding a jury trial and the awarding of “significant damages” to her and other alleged victims of manipulation. A group of 12 attorneys from Rosen Law Firm will be representing Friel, the complaint was filed in a New York trial court.

It’s worth noting a lot has changed since then, especially for Dapper. In May they were valued at $2.6 billion now they’re worth almost $8bn. So it can be possible Caty Tedman feels the launch could have been done a little better in the sense of consumer protection and wants to prevent another incident in the likes of Friel’s.
