Mexico’s Central Bank Governor Says Bitcoin Is Not Money

Original Article by: Scott Chipolina

Alenjandro Diaz governor of Mexico’s central bank recently commented on Bitcoin as a currency. He stated “Whoever receives Bitcoin in exchange for a good or service, we believe that transaction is more akin to bartering because that person is exchanging a good for a good, but nor really money for a good,”. As well as stating his dislike for the volatility of the coin, saying “People will not want their purchasing power, their salary to go up or down 10% from one day to another. You don't want that volatility for purchasing power,”. The topic of Bitcoin as a legal currency has been in the spotlight due to El Salvador’s recent adoption, and I believe will continue to be a great topic of speculation with countries now considering doing the same.
