Meta Announces Decision to Reverse Crypto Ad Ban

  • Meta, Formerly Facebook, has announced their decision to list restrictions on the bans that prevented start-ups in the cryptocurrency and blockchain fields to promote their work on Facebook and Instagram

    • In January 2018, Facebook banned all ads promoting cryptocurrencies with the intention on stopping potential scams

  • Meta now accepts 27 regulatory licenses, where after the ban only 3 licenses were accepted

  • Meta previously worked on releasing a cryptocurrency for it’s social platform which ended up failing

    • David Marcus, the head of Meta’s cryptocurrency efforts, announced on Tuesday Nov. 30 that he would be leaving the company at the end of the year

    • The departure announcement included that he would be replaced by Stephane Kasriel
