Key Points:

  • USDC will be coming to Hedera Hashgraph to help support their growing DeFi ecosystem. USDC has also been put on Ethereum, Algorand, Solana, the Stellar network (XLM), and Tron in the past year.

  • “We believe USDC is a key building block for DeFi and payments use cases in the crypto economy,” said Hedera CEO Shayne Higdon. “Now anyone can transact value with USDC on Hedera, and they do so with some significant benefits over other chains such as high performance, low latency and sustainable energy efficiency.”

  • Adding USDC to their network will attract more users as it is one of the most widely used stablecoins coming from trusted backers in Circle. Hedera will be dedicating $2.5 billion to their new HBAR foundation focusing on DeFi.

  • USDC founding company, Circle, has plans to expand into another 10 networks as well.
