The Lightning Network

The Lightning Network was created to allow for a faster and a digitally native payment infrastructure for Bitcoin. It aims to address and solve BTC’s scaling issues. The Lightning Network is a Layer 2 solution on the Bitcoin Mainnet and is powered by BTC smart contracts that allow for instantaneous BTC payments. Much like ETH Layer 2 solutions, this allows for off0chain transactionsThis network is still in the works- as there are still various vulnerabilities that developers are trying to correct.

P2P (Peer-to-Peer) exchange Paxful has no integrated the Lightning Network on their platform, hoping this will help achieve wider utility of the platform. Paxful users will not have to go through any special conversions as they will have a universal Bitcoin balance that can be used for both Bitcoin and Lightning network transactions/transfers.
