Crypto Twins By Billboard in NY

If you live in New York and have walked around Columbus Circle, then you’ve been strolling with a Bitcoin ad right in plain sight. The mysterious billboard displayed the phrases, “electronic,” “a solution” and “are lost”, with not much context.

Today crypto exchange Gemini revealed that they were behind the ominous message, making up the billboard were passages from Bitcoins original white paper. The twin CEOs of the exchange Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss stated they had put it up to honor the paper’s 13th anniversary.

Speaking with Coindesk the Gemini, claimed to have rented the space for three years, making it the biggest buy the company has ever made. Previously the display was home to the CNN logo.

The billboard coincides with Gemini’s sale of 105 NFT’s that show the same phrases splashed across the board. The auction is being held on Geminis NFT platform Nifty Gateway and ends on Saturday.

The exchange did not disclose the price of the space, but this isn’t surprising as crypto advertisements ramp up throughout the space. Just this year rival exchange FTX bought the naming rights to the new Miami Heat NBA stadium and penned a deal to display the logo on all MLB umpires uniforms.

This should be only the beginning of crypto-related ads within our life, as a person who tries to consume as few ads as possible I’ve found it increasingly difficult to get around them, but maybe now they’ll be more interesting than the regular ant-depressant ads I get.
