China Is Still Mining Bitcoin Despite The Ban

Data charting from multiple sources confirm that Bitcoin miners in mainland China are still mining Bitcoin despite the crypto bans from June 2021 that included a ban on mining. While the ban did have an immediate response of Chinese miners shutting down or moving their operations, China is now back to being the 2nd largest contributor to Bitcoin mining.

China’s bitcoin mining hashrate disappeared completely for a while between July and August 2021. This marked the switch of Bitcoins mining hashrate distribution, where China was always the leader until this point. The U.S. has since taken the top spot, with China coming in second since they popped back up in September 2021.
