Sotheby’s Kicks Off Bored Ape NFTs Auction, Bids Soar to $4.5 Million

The lot of 100+ NFTs is expected to bring up to $18M. Separately, a single BAYC NFT sold for $2.25 million worth of ETH today.

Auction house Sotheby’s is auctioning a lot of 107 Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs. The current top bid is $4.5 million. A separate auction of 101 Bored Ape Kennel Club NFTs has a top bid of $420,000 as of publication. The Bored Ape Yacht Club is solidifying itself as the clear number 2 avatar project behind Crypto Punks, who had an auction on Christies earlier this year. Following the recent mutant drop and also the recent Sotheby’s listing, the momentum for Apes does not seem to be slowing down.

The BAYC was founded with the intentions of building a community. A place for those who don’t care about being around the beautiful supermodels but those that would rather be in the mountains of the everglades with their fellow tech buddies. Its a wonderful and inspiring thing to see when people harmonize in this type of way. However, I do wonder what the price ceiling for entering this club will end up being. Remember, you’re never “missing the boat” when you take life changing profits.
