Ropsten Testnet Merge Has Been Successful

A bug caused a delay after the initial announcement of the testnet merge, but the beacon chain is now activated. All testnet validators are now running it on Proof-of-Stake. The update initially went live on May 30 and was successfully merged last night on June 8.

For the beacon chain to finalize, 66% or more of the validators to participate. Although there were reports of a few missed blocks, the chain achieved over 86% participation 9around 100k validators.

The Ropsten Testnet is often referred to as the closest testnet to the mainnet- making this success an important test in the upcoming Merge. There will be two additional public testnet merges following the success of the Ropsten merge, before finally evolving the mainnet to Proof-of-Stake.
