Elon Musk has been a large figure in crypto since the Doge days of summer. While he may not have the same influence over the market that he had then people still pay attention when he has something to say.

The last couple of days Musk and Jack Dorsey have been voicing their opinions on Web 3.0 and its centralized nature. Tesla has experimented with Bitcoin for payments but he is not the maximalist that Dorsey is. Musk says “I don’t see someone strapping a friggin’ screen to their face all day,” said Musk in an interview with The Babylon Bee.

Metaverses have been a hot topic lately that he thinks is more of a “buzzword” lately and that we could still be far from being fully submerged in the metaverse. Musk also used this opportunity to push his Neuralink technology which he thinks will be better for metaverses than the current VR headsets. Neuralink is a gadget that will be surgically inserted into the brain using robotics by neurosurgeons.

“I’m currently unable to see a compelling metaverse situation or Web 3 sounds like more marketing than reality. I don’t get it, and maybe I will, but I don’t get it yet.” This is not a shot at Web 3 and metaverses but just a highlight of how new an idea it is that it may just be a bit of hype more than anything at the moment.
