Ethereum Takes Another Step Towards The Merge
On Tuesday 7/26, Ethereum’s mainnet went through its tenth shadow fork to copy over data from the mainnet to a testnet for further testing. ETH developer Parithosh Jayanthi told CoinDesk that “this shadow fork will test releases that approximate the releases that will be used in the Goerli merge.”
The Goerli merge will be the final testnet merge, while there will be more mainnet shadow forks, until the upcoming Merge to proof-of-stake.
The releases for Goerli, the last testnet merge, are out!

On 7/27, ETH developers announced details on the final testnet merge. This is the last chance for operators to test the new processes before the mainnet.
Goerli will merge with Prater; the combined network will retain the name Goerli post-merge.
Prater will go through the Bellatrix upgrade to ready it for the merge at epoch 112260 (expected 12:24 UTC 08/04/22).
Goerli/Prater merge will occur when Goerli hits a difficulty of 10790000, which is expected between August 6-12, 2022.
