Coinbase is Number 1 Again

The famous crypto exchange, Coinbase’s mobile app is once again atop the Apple Stores most popular app, beating out Tik Tok, Instagram, and Youtube.

The app was launched in 2014, when crypto was in its wee infancy, and has 1.4 million downloads to date, with a boom over the last 2 days. Just on Tuesday, it ranked as the 11th spot on the store.

Data from SensorTower also show that Coinbase is looking to knock at the number one spot on the GooglePlay store as well.

Co-Founder of Coinbase Fred Ehrsam took to Twitter to celebrate the news Tweeting “How it started… How it's going,” Calling back to its 2012 days with a photo of the old UI compared to a screenshot of the app’s current ranking.

Coinbase’s return to the top of the app store coincides with the recent surge in trading for the meme stock coin Shiba-Inu, which was enabled to be traded on the platform in September. The Ethereum based cryptocurrency has been on a rampage reaching a new all-time high just this morning, of .000087. The same day last week the coin traded at .000027.

CoinGecko is reporting that SHIB’s trading volume toppled at $43 billion over the past 24 hours, with Coinbase being responsible for $5 billion of the trades.

This is not the first time the well-known exchange has reached the top, back in May of this year right before the crash, and April shortly after the company was listed on the Nasdaq.
