Nvidia is quietly the backbone of crypto since their graphics cards play a huge role in the mining of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Monero, and more. Their graphics cards are used for a variety of different things and a global shortage of chips has made them even more popular. Even though proof-of-work is slowly being phased out for proof-of-stake there are other ways that they are still able to help grow the space.
They are now going to be getting involved in the quickly growing Metaverse space by announcing it has made deals with several Metaverse marketplaces. This deal would include Nvidia giving free software to artists and creators that are trying to build in the projects and items in the Metaverse. Creators, designers, researchers, and engineers can connect major design tools, assets, and projects to collaborate and iterate in a shared virtual space” said Nvidia.
Nvidia; however, will not be launching their own Metaverse but will be helping build the foundation similar to how they have with some cryptocurrencies. This has been a good year for Nvidia as the rise in gaming on PCs, cryptocurrency, and Metaverses has caused the price to increase by 130% in the last 12 months to about $290 at the moment. It could end up being another great year for the company and even into the future as the need for this kind of hardware increases.
